The History and Origins of the Doberman Pinscher Breed
The Doberman Pinscher breed originated in the late 19th century in Apolda, Germany.
The breed was developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann, a German tax collector and dog breeder.

Dobermann aimed to create a large, fearless and protective breed to assist him in his work.
The breed was developed by crossing various breeds such as the German Pinscher, Rottweiler, Black and Tan Terrier, and Weimaraner.
The breed was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1908.
Dobermans were used extensively during World War I and World War II as military and police dogs.
